When this email came through our inbox it was a no brainer! Victoria West High School Class of 2021 Salutatorian, Emily Cotton was looking for a buyer of her one-of-a-kind art piece, we knew the perfect home for it.

Chick-fil-A Victoria Operator and Leadership Team celebrated Emily as the first recipient of Chick-fil-A Victoria’s Community Artist Scholarship. Cotton painted this special piece of art earlier this year for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Art exhibit. Her creative art piece adorably titled “Salt Lick” won Special Merit and advanced to State judging at the 2021 exhibit.

With Chick-fil-A’s long honored celebration and love of our friends the “Eat Mor Chikin” Cows, Operator, David Murphy knew this piece had to be showcased in the recently opened M4 Corporate Office and Team & Community Resource Center downtown.

Owner/Operator David Murphy said "At Chick-fil-A Victoria, we care about others, especially our community members, and lasting relationships matter to us. It was important for us to invest in our high school students, to help them continue to have a positive impact in the lives of others."

With this scholarship Cotton hopes to achieve her academic goals as she continues her higher education at the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. Cotton is looking to raise more funds towards her college education with purchases of “Salt Lick” original piece and art prints. We are so proud of Emily and are excited to highlight "Salt Lick" during the tours of our Resource Center for years to come.
